I would like to put forward a challenge to any Microsoft Great Plains bank reconciliation user or consultant. Let us do a bank reconciliation using one in GP and one using Ezyrecon.

Here are the parameters:

1) We will use live data from your side.

2) There will be no formatting required- whatever data comes from the client’s bank, and book will be used for the reconciliation. If you need to format the bank data, then it is a point against you. Both data should be in an Excel or csv data file format.

3) The comparison will be on the facing page presentation, from unadjusted to reconciled book and bank balances.

4) The process of reconciliation should require minimal intervention from the user, except on the initial set up ( i.e. to establish the starting reconciliation )

5) We will take into account how long it took you using GP or Ezyrecon.

The criteria to use are as follows:

1) It must have an informative facing page presentation or final report- it should conform to the AICPA suggested reconciliation report from unadjusted to reconciled book and bank balances.

2) It must be able to suggest the journal entries to record reconciling items using the user’s chart of accounts.

3) It must have the ability to show in details all the reconciling items.

4) It must have an option to show any reconciling item as either a book or bank error (i.e., if the bank made a mistake in the check amount, it should be a bank reconciling item)

5) It must list the reconciling items from last month that were not yet recorded in the current period- in other words, list the remaining adjustments needed from last month (e.g. book errors not yet recorded), if any.

6) Ease of use

7) Extent of manual or user intervention- in Ezyrecon, there is none, not sure of GP.

8) Ability to monitor the sweep investment balance that is part of the cash account balance- this sweep investment is automatically returned when funds are low and debited when funds are high.

Anybody there who would like to take this challenge, please let me know. You can reach me at Conrad@ezyrecon.com

The loser needs to publish here in LinkedIn the reason for not winning-in other words what points you did not win and why
